PROJECT VISION

I asked my really good friend Lorenzo Fonda if I could paint some of Elena Xausa's illustrations (his belated wife, who passed away from cancer two years ago) on the walls of @wyliecovfx in Culver City. The building is located in the heart of Culver City's Arts District, and the idea that everyone in the community would get to see Elena's drawings really appealed to Lorenzo. He liked the idea so much that he suggested he could come to LA and help me painting it. We spent a beautiful week under the LA sun brush-stroking, laughing, chatting and hanging out, all in @elenaxausa's honor and memory.
it was obviously very hard to select the images we wanted to use, but we're very happy with how they all work together and talk to each other

CREATIVE APPROACH

This is the most personal mural I ever done. It took me three years to find the right story for this building in the @culvercityartsdistrict . Elena was one of the most talented illustrators I’ve ever known, with clients from @nytimes to @newyorkermag to @nike just to name a few. Her work was pure magic, and every time I saw her art, I was blown away.

In honor of her style, her spirit, and her genius, I put together an incredible team of Artists and together, we poured Elena’s essence onto this wall—a tribute to her legacy, her vision, and the beauty she brought to the world.

Huge thanks to my husband and the team at @wyliecovfx who gave me this canvas and supported me through it all. This mural wouldn’t have been possible without each and every person who helped bring it to life.
If you’re in the area, come by, take a picture, and tag me—Elena would love that. 💫
